The West Meadow wall, a view looking along the top. And yes that is poison ivy!
Poison Ivy and English ivy is seeded all around my garden by the birds. Its about that time of the season to put on glove and pull them up. Carefully washing the gloves and clothes with your touching your face to prevent a reaction.
Thankfully, we don’t have English Ivy here. Though we do have Virginia Creeper, which can be a bit of a headache, but is quite nice in the right spot. Poison ivy doesn’t really bother me, probably because I don’t make a habit of wandering about in shorts and sandals, like all too many people do. The washing machine is definitely my friend though. We try to control it immediately around the house, but something like that wall? Not anytime soon! Pulling the seedlings is the way to go in the garden areas. Big vines on trees are best cut.
Makes me itch just to look at it 🙂 I’m able to avoid poison ivy most of the time, even though there’s lots of it around here. Every once in a while, though, I’ll pick up a dog at work that’s been running around in it. No way to tell just by looking at the dog, but I’m extremely aware of it later 🙂
Dogs, and cats, do seem to carry the oil on their fur. It must not bother them though? Never thought about that…odd.
