There are a lot of stories in the woods….what these are….well I know some of it, but no one alive knows the whole story. Does that matter? That these photographs, standing alone, can still speak says something about being human. Here is some information: it likely was an engagement ring, heavily worn, and it was lost in the kitchen trash, which trash was then lost. The stump is usually under water, but is a deliberately planted (and cut) Sugar Maple, part of a line along a road planted in the early 1800’s, cut in 1939, flooded in the 1940’s.
Those are the facts, beyond that lies the story.
